Young Women & Breast Cancer (YWBC) Awareness
YWBC is the program that I launched under Latinas Contra Cancer while undergoing cancer treatment. With roots in the San Francsico Bay Area, the program is designed to raise awareness through personal empowerment by educating young women in breast cancer as a whole, with the emphasis on early detection strategies, introduction into individual risk factor and risk reducing strategies. Program model is currently set up for a total of 45 minutes to an hour… The target audience is 15-39, however information provided is relevant to all ages…If you are interested in hosting event at your workplace, schools, special club, organization, homes… Please feel more than free to contact me…The more we can reach, the more lives we can save!
Leticia Croft-Holguin
Advocate. Educator. Warrior. Author You could call Leticia by many things…a stage 2b, triple negative, BRCA1 positive breast cancer survivor. Some are fortunate enough to call her a sister, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, wife, or mother. Others call her a co-worker, friend, or neighbor. But those who know or meet her in any way, shape, or form are lucky enough to know a true advocate for health, happiness, and humanity. Leticia embraces an absolute dedication to the day that no patient or family will ever have to endure what she did, though end up with the knowledge and passion that was the result.
“My objective is to give all special groups that suffer higher mortality rates a fighting chance by providing them the tools necessary to take hold of their lives. Race, Gender, Age, and socio-economic status should not negatively impact ones survival, but unfortunately they do. My mission is to offset this trend!”
Kimberly & Jason Yearry
From a family of those loved and lost to many forms of cancer, including breast cancer, Kimberly and Jason are also truly inspired to see the day when a cure is found, and fewer battles to cancer are lost, or even happened in the first place. As co-workers, friends, and supporters, they fondly refer to Leticia as one more thing to them…a hero. As presentation assistants, marketing support, and fellow advocates, Kimberly and Jason are honored to stand by Leticia’s side in her journey to educate and inspire on the subject of breast cancer awareness, prevention, legislation, and advocacy.
